“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature -- the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”
― Rachel Carson, Silent Spring
Why study Nature?
Sometimes we forget we are part of a family of living creatures. We are all connected, and if you look around, you will find relatives who are not just two-or-four legged, but eight-legged or no-legged or even many-legged!
Cardinals, skunks, spiders, centipeds, and snakes all share the sir, soil, water, and space called the Web of Life. With all the changes happening to our global ecosystem, it is increasingly important that we learn about nature right near us, so that we understand better what is happening in our own neighborhoods as well as far away.
The word "nature" comes from the Latin word nasci meaning "to be born". This makes sense, as nature includes everything in the world that is living (and also many things that aren't!). So the study of nature is the study of the world surrounding you and your place in the world.

We are so excited about this new website tool for supporting our science class and learning experiences! We have recently introduced it and now have a routine in place, using it for homework.
The following is a rubric of our expectations for student responses on this site:
A big thank you to PIC for donating some plants for our garden. PAS students were able to add sage, parseley and tomato plants this week!
Thank you to the PAS students and families that came to our community garden day! We had over 100 people participate and complete dedicated service to our school!
